Road Safety Annual Report 2024
▣︎ The OECD International Transport Forum (ITF) published the Road Safety Annual Report 2024 in December, based on an analysis by the International Traffic Safety Data and Analysis Group (IRTAD), comparing road traffic fatalities across 35 member countries. As of 2023, the number of fatalities per 100,000 people decreased by 2.7% compared to the previous year but increased by 1.9% compared to 2013. However, excluding the United States, the figure showed a 12.8% decrease. This progress falls short of the United Nations’ goal of reducing fatalities by 50% between 2020 and 2030, which requires an annual reduction of 20%. South Korea ranked 21st with 4.9 fatalities per 100,000 people, still in the lower tier. However, Korea showed significant improvement, with a 6.7% decrease from the previous year and a 49.9% reduction compared to 2013. |
